Colorblindness Filters App
Available soon on Google Play Store
This app is intended to create the effect of using filters to enhance the colors on a video display so that they are better able to be seen by those with colorblindness.
The app is based on the opponent theory of color vision, in which color is transmitted in 2 channels - one encoding red/green contrast and the other encoding blue/yellow contrast.
The app has 2 sliders that can be adjusted to change the colors. The top slider controls red/green contrast, with red being enhanced by movement to the left (actually reducing the amount of green in the image) and green being enhanced by movement to the right (actually reducing the amount of red in the image). The bottom slider controls blue/yellow contrast, with blue being enhanced by movement to the left (reducing the amount of yellow in the image) and yellow being enhanced by movement to the right (reducing the amount of blue in the image).
A brief message appears on the screen after a slider is moved, indicating the amount of color reduction.
The shutter button will take 2 pictures, one of the unenhanced image and the other of the filtered image.
